Lufa is more than rooftop farming

Bringing together hyper-local food production of all shapes and sizes, and multiple operating farms, Lufa farms on rooftops in cities, partners with local farmers and food makers, and creates a community of pick-up points to deliver all this food directly to customers, who we call “Lufavores”.

Every day, Lufa Farms delivers thousands of food baskets filled with rooftop-grown veggies directly to customers, or “Lufavores”. The team meets this daily challenge with a vision: to create a better food system, encompassing our rooftop farms and local agriculture in all shapes and sizes. This means farming on rooftops in cities, partnering up with local farmers and food makers, and creating a community of pick-up points to deliver all this food as directly as possible. Lufa built the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse on an industrial building in Montreal, Quebec, to prove that high-yield, year-round farming is a smarter, more sustainable, and commercially viable way to feed cities. Since then, the company has built new, larger, and more optimized rooftop greenhouses, including the world’s largest rooftop farm, to grow more where people live.

Rooftop farms aren’t meant to replace local farms and food makers, however, and not everything can be grown on rooftops after all. Altogether, Lufa has built a healthier, more sustainable local food system. Lufa seeks out partners who share our values of transparency and sustainability and work closely with them for its online farmer’s market, the Marketplace, to offer locals a full selection of products.
